Miss America 2015 Ottawa Visit

Last week, I was invited to cover Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev’s visit to Ottawa in her role as National Goodwill Ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The non-profit organization raises funds for over 170 children’s hospitals, The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) being one of them. During her visit, Kira stopped by CTV and the Maplesoft Centre where she donated $2,000 on behalf of Canadian designer Joseph Ribkoff. Ribkoff has been a clothing sponsor for the Miss America organization since 2009.

For her CTV News at Noon segment with Leeanne Cusack and Michael O’Byrne, Kira wore Joseph Ribkoff dress #154012. The black wrap dress features a deep V neck, slight ruching around the waist and hips, and zipper sleeves. Leanne’s dress is also by Joseph Ribkoff, style #151017 ($197). The sleeveless dress has a color-blocked pattern on the front and is solid black at the back.

While at CTV, she was reunited with 17-year-old cancer survivor Annie Underhill who she met in Florida last October. Every year, CHEO recognizes children who have triumphed despite their medical challenges and this year’s CHEO Champion Child is Annie (pictured below in the glasses).

Then it was off to Shepherd’s at Ottawa Trainyards for a meet and greet and a photoshoot with Fave Magazine. After getting her makeup done by Leslie-Ann Barrett, Kira changed into her first of three Ribkoff looks for the shoot; a black and white zip front jacket paired with black cigarette pants. Next, she wore a black and white geometric print shift dress with pink trim around the neckline and cuffs.  For her last look, she wore a floral print Ribkoff sheath dress.
