Glowfair Festival 2015
This summer, the popular Glowfair Festival returns to Bank Street on June 19-20 for its second year. Featuring three time Juno winner Kiesza as its headliner, this is an event you don’t want to miss. The street festival will be spread across ten closed city blocks, from Slater to James, and each block will celebrate a specific theme. One block will be transformed into a LED lit “Enchanted Forest,” while another theme, entitled “Soundboard,” will have Ottawa’s hottest station JUMP! FM spinning non-stop hits.
Key performances include New York alternative rockers Blonde Redhead, electropop artist Lowell, as well as prominent local band The Peptides. DJs include Montreal’s Vilify and duos Torro Torro and Jokers Of The Scene. There will be two stages, one for live music and one for DJs, with the main stage located on Bank and Laurier. For those unable to attend the main stage, there will be a designated Glow Zone to sit and listen to what is happening. This designated area will consist of glow stools and black light projecting the artists. In addition, there will be the Pinball Wizard skateboarding park, Kid’s Zone, and circus.
Glowfair producer Kevin Martin confirmed the return of the ‘silent’ disco due to the overwhelming demand. Once the noise bylaw takes effect at 11:30pm, festival goers can use a Bluetooth-enabled headset to listen to the music and dance until 2am. The two day event is free for all ages and jam packed with lots of fun activities and live performances. What are you waiting for? Make sure to book off June 19th and June 20th!
