Fear Is An Illusion

Sometimes in life we’re our own worst enemy. We procrastinate, we give up easily, we ignore our instincts, or we try to conform to other people’s idea of who we should be. Whatever the reason, our fears are usually lurking right around the corner. We spend way more time being consumed by fear than we do overcoming it. Think about many times has fear prevented you from taking a chance or caused you to miss out on a great opportunity? Fear is an illusion and once you understand that, there’s nothing to fear. Like the author Susan Jeffers said, feel the fear and do it anyway.

It’s almost been one year since I last blogged and it wasn’t until recently that I became inspired to write again. I’ve come to the realization that if you wait for the perfect timing, you’ll always be waiting because there’s no such thing. Perfection is merely a myth! It’s manufactured, yet it’s the standard by which we judge ourselves. We constantly obsess over fictional details until we lose sight of our true purpose and become satisfied with the status quo. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but not even your fave is perfect. Make a conscious decision to not let society impose it’s image of success on your life. Be comfortable in your own skin.

Feeling afraid is natural but allowing it to paralyze you is not. Which brings us to my magnum opus. The secret to overcoming your fears is that there is no secret. Worrying about things you have no control over is useless because the truth is we can really only control our actions. Refuse to be defined by other people’s opinions and stay focused on what truly matters: God, Family, Love, and Happiness. At the end of the day, everything else is just a distraction.
