FASHION BLVD: Ottawa Fashion Week S/S 2013 Launch Party
On Tuesday night (October 9), the eighth season of Ottawa Fashion Week (OFW)—and my first—kicked off with an exclusive VIP Cocktail Reception/Media Launch Party in the heart of Little Italy. Ottawa’s fashion enthusiasts gathered inside the spacious Sala San Marco located at 215 Preston Street, which was temporarily renamed ‘Fashion Boulevard’ in celebration of OFW.
Earlier in the evening, buyers and media previewed collections from Geneviève Lima, Voyou, Solace, and Vivi par Geneviève Couture. OFW Creative Director and owner Bruno Racine truly was a gracious host, working the room and posing for pictures as he greeted old faces and welcomed new ones. Also present were OFW Financial Director Paul Valletta, OFW Business Development Director Ruby Cheng, and OFW Executive Producer Hussein Rashid.
Between bites of tasty appetizers and glasses of wine and bubbly, the sounds of laughter and spirited conversation could be heard throughout the venue. Outside, tents and topiary trees transformed the block into a fashion marketplace. For 3 days, from October 12-14, Sala San Marco would see 22 designers present their Spring/Summer 2013 collections.
While making the rounds, I managed to catch up with a slew of my favorite faces including two of the most hardest-working men I know, James Jefferson & Daniel McKinnon from Blackbook Lifestyle, Ottawa’s sweetheart and Daytime Ottawa Co-Host Lois Lee, Julie Beun & Janet Wilson from the Ottawa Citizen, MIM owners Sophie Beaudoin & Renée Morra, and photographer James Park.
Fashion columnist Darcy Boucher snapped this awesome photo of my outfit.
Below are a few more photos from the launch party. Enjoy!
