REPORT: Jay-Z Earned $63 Mill, Only Gave $6K To His Charity In 2010, Plus Photos From His Carnegie Hall Concert
Last night, Jay-Z performed the first of two benefit concerts at New York’s Carnegie Hall, with all proceeds going to the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. But, according to The Daily, he’s “more of a nickel-and-dime kind of guy” when it comes to giving money to his own charity. Tax records for the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund reportedly show that Jay-Z gave just $6,431 to his own charity in 2010, a year in which he earned an estimated $63 million.
The article also claims that Beyoncé “didn’t give her husband’s foundation a dime,” even though she raked in an estimated $87 million.
Jay-Z’s rep Jana Fleishman reportedly declined to say whether Jay had made any monetary contributions to the fund since 2010.
In contrast to the average American, who donates about 3.5 percent of their income to charity, Jay-Z only gave about 0.01 percent of his estimated $420 million networth to his own charity in 2010.
