Raekwon Brings Ice H20 Label To Canada X Announces New Mixtape Release Date
Corey Woods, better known as Raekwon, recently brought his Ice H20 record label across the border and opened an office in Toronto at 619 Yonge Street. His first signee is Toronto’s own JD Era (pictured above), whose debut album will be released sometime next year.
“What brought me here is because of the fact the city is so rich and filled with talent that’s being overlooked,” said Raekwon.
In addition to setting up shop, the Wu-Tang legend also purchased a condo near the city’s waterfront.
“Down by the Raptors building (the Air Canada Centre), I love that area, I’m up in the sky, I get to see Toronto and look at it and think about all the visions that I have for this city. I wanted to be here like that. I wanted to be hands on. And I bring my kids here and they love it. Toronto’s a beautiful city.”
Aside from that, the Chef will be dropping his new mixtape Unexpected Victory on Christmas Day and is currently working on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx III, which he expects to release in 2012. There’s also a biopic about his life in the works called C.R.E.A.M., starring Erykah Badu and Cee Lo Green as his parents.
Next year marks Wu-Tang Clan’s 20th anniversary since they first busted on the scene with the 1993 classic “Protect Ya Neck.”
