Ex-Bad Boy Rapper Loon Arrested In Belgium On Drug Charges
Former Bad Boy artist Loon, born Chauncey Hawkins, was arrested at the Brussels airport on November 22 while on his way to give a lecture at the Islamic and Culture Centre of Belgium. The rapper, who now goes by the name Amir Junaid Muhadith after converting to Islam, was arrested on drug trafficking charges stemming from an indictment back in May. Belgium officials reportedly invoked the “Patriot Act” to detain the rapper.
The copy of the indictment, obtained by DDotOmen.com, alleges that Loon “knowingly and intentionally” possessed with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin in North Carolina from early 2006 to September 2008.
In 2004, Hawkins was arrested and charged with attempted murder after a security guard was stabbed during a fight in a Los Angeles club. He was never convicted of the crime.
Currently, Loon is being held at a prison in Vorst but is expected to be extradited back to the United States.
