TYLER TV: Tyler Perry Launching Own Cable Network?

According to the NY Times, Tyler Perry is partnering up with Lionsgate film studio to launch a new cable network called “Tyler TV.” The network would initially show reruns of Perry’s sitcoms like “Meet the Browns” and “House of Payne,” including his movies.

It is said that Lionsgate and Perry are considering the TV Guide Network as one of three avenues for distribution. Lionsgate owns 50 percent of the channel, which is available in about 80 million homes.

Ten of the films that Lionsgate has distributed for Perry since 2005 have grossed over $500 million at the North American box office alone. On Wednesday, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said, “Tyler is one of those rare resources that one could launch a channel with. We have a lot of options if we choose to go down that path.”

However, there still has been no official confirmation on the alleged venture.
