Fall Fashion With FLARE At Bayshore Shopping Centre
Following the OFW S/S ’13 Launch Party, on Wednesday evening (October 10) Bayshore Shopping Centre was the place to be! After my appearance on Daytime Ottawa (more about that later), I headed to the Flare Magazine World Runway Tour presented by TRESemmé in support of the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s The Heart Truth campaign. Thanks to Blackbook Lifestyle, the red carpet event brought out Ottawa’s fashion community in full force for an evening of style in the city.
When I got there, I was greeted by Bayshore’s Marketing Director Angie Russell who looked rocker chic in a McCaffrey Haute Couture cocktail dress teamed with a silver Kenneth Cole biker jacket and glitter embellished Nine West platform pumps. She completed her look with center-parted hair, pink lips, and accessories from The Bay.
Right around the time I finished gushing over Angie’s outfit, I spotted my girl Pro Makeup Artist Melody Iafelice and her friend. Melody opted for the classic equestrian look in on-trend leather leggings, a white button up and wool-blend tweed blazer, styled with black riding boots and a black/white clutch.
Her riding boots feature a side zipper and though not visible in the pic, her blazer had Balmain-esque shoulders.
Before making my way inside, I met local accessories designer/model Mahlet Seifu and her friend Mpume. Mahlet wore a cheetah print fit and flare dress from Dynamite accented by a black skinny belt, paired with black open toe heels and a Me.Tu clutch.
As for me, I rocked the Lanna Tulip Dress in black/gold ($229) and a Christina necklace ($89.50), both from Club Monaco Rideau. My metallic dress features a scoop neck, low V-back, and exposed back zipper.
My flawless makeup was courtesy of Noah from the NARS counter at The Bay Rideau, and I finished my look with studded Zara ankle booties.
Journalist Julie Beun kept things edgy in a silver cardiwrap and ‘Obi’ belt, both by Halifax designer Turbine, and black leather and lycra pants with zipper detail by Ottawa-born, Toronto-based designer Rachel Sin. Her signature pixie cut, Magpie earrings, a statement necklace, and studded peep-toe Guess booties completed her outfit.
Much to my delight, I bumped into the fabulous cookbook author and TV host Margaret Dickenson who was dressed in one of Fall’s biggest colors: Red. Fashionistas take notes! Her wool coat is by Moschino.
A white tent complete white leather couches, a bar, dressed mannequins on display, and life-sized Flare Magazine posters provided the backdrop for the event. DJ Ilon spun the tunes and Daytime Ottawa’s Lois Lee MC’d the show.
Flare Magazine Fashion Director Liz Cabral hosted the runway presentation where she shared the top Fall Fashion and Beauty trends and how to interpret them with the help of models from MIM and AMTI. All the looks from the runway are available at stores in Bayshore Shopping Centre.
Despite a dip in the temperature, we remained glued to our seats and braved the cold in the name of fashion. Also noteworthy are the VIP swag bags that were filled with a mountain of goodies including false lashes, hair care products, body lotion, facial masks, and a free copy of Flare’s October 2012 issue.
The highlight of the night for me came after the show, when Liz and I realized we both shared the same sense of style.

Until next time,
