FLORABOTANICA: Kristen Stewart’s Balenciaga Fragrance Campaign
Twilight star Kristen Stewart stars in Balenciaga’s ad campaign for their new fragrance ‘Florabotanica,’ shot by one of my personal faves, Steven Meisel. The 22-year-old is having an incredible year so far. She was was named Forbes’ highest-paid actress this year, raking in $34.5 million from May 2011 to May 2012 and is the youngest on the list by 16 years.
In the ad, Kristen is wearing a dress from Balenciaga’s Spring 2008 collection.
Check out what the Hollywood starlet had to say to WWD about the fragrance below:
On Florabotanica: “I’m very lucky that I like the fragrance, because I would have done anything with [Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière]. And I’m a terrible liar. There is something natural about it. It’s very alive. I think that as a young person wearing it—considering that I’ve never worn a scent—it kind of puts you on this level of, like, ‘Whoa, check me out.’”
On shooting the Balenciaga campaign: “When I first stood there, I was like, ‘OK, do you want me to show the curves of the dress? Do you want me to stand like this? Like that?’ And they were like, ‘Just be comfortable.’ I find when you do a really good photo shoot, you’ve unlocked something that you didn’t necessarily know you had in you,. There are qualities that certain clothes, or certain environments and certain people, bring to the surface that can be surprising. But that doesn’t mean that they’re not authentic.”
Florabotanica is Nicholas Ghesquière’s second perfume for Balenciaga. “It’s a secret garden where you find surprising flowers that surpass the imagination. But flowers can be cruel, carnivorous or venomous,” he says. “What would a perfume that contained the charm and mystery of flowers be like? This is the story that we wanted to tell with Florabotanica.”
The fragrance hits stores September 19. Will you be buying?
