‘Soul Train’ Creator Don Cornelius Found Dead In Apparent Suicide

Soul Train creator Don Cornelius was found dead this morning at his Sherman Oaks home in California around 4 a.m. PT. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that he died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There were no signs of foul play. 

Cornelius is credited with bringing R&B music into the homes of millions and providing a platform for artists like Aretha Franklin, Barry White, and The Isley Brothers, to name a few. He hosted Soul Train from 1971 to 1993. The show is the longest-running, first-run, nationally syndicated program in television history and went off the air in 2006.

He was 75 years old.
